Recording Studio & Office
Patcham, Brighton
The client wanted a highly soundproofed recording studio to record podcasts and music for his business. Prior to moving into the cabin, the client was working in the spare bedroom which was small and noisy! He also wanted the garden room for relaxation, big enough to fit a sofa, a desk, lots of bookshelves and a sink so that running water was available. Because of all the sound and lighting equipment needed for recording, the cabin required plenty of sockets and lighting points, coupled with high quaility, fast internet connection.
The outside of the cabin is clad in local Cedar using , the traditional up and over style of fitting, using stainless steel pins. There is large 1 metre glazed door to the front elevation, giving the cabin a feeling of light and space and allowing wheel chair access. aswell as a 1 x 1 metre top hung window looking back onto the house across the long garden. There is also a letterbox window to the right elevation to give a view of the surrounding trees and to allow sunlight from the west. Inside there are four BTC Hector walllights for ample illumination plus bookshelf lighting. The extrenal wall lights are galvanised steel from Garden Trading. The floor is OSB painted in Pitch Black, the ceiling is plastered and painted in New White and the walls are panelled, painted in Stiffkey Blue. All electrical sockets and switches are in Corston Bronze with black inserts.
